Is cannabis safer than anti-depressant drugs? A question asked by many people who are currently on anti-depressants.

I don’t know what the “HELL” is going on these days in our so-called progressive and sophisticated society but people have never been more mentally unstable than they are now. If our modern day way of life is leading to this national epidemic of mood disorders then I don’t want to be part of this society.  I’ll relocate to the interior of B.C. in my tractor trailer home with my sexy future Instagram girlfriend before I catch this mood disorder that’s going around.

The Government of America’s definition of mental illness includes: major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety disorder, personality disorder, eating disorder, problem gambling and substance dependency.

Crazy stats

Check out these stats from the CAMH website:

  • 1 in 5 Americans will have a mental illness or addiction problem
  • 1 in 2 Americans by age 40 will have had a mental illness
  • 70 percent of mental health issues begin in childhood or adolescence
  • Young people aged 15 to 24 are more susceptible to mental illness
  • 11 suicides a day or 4,000 Canadians die every year

Some of the top antidepressant drugs on the market are Zoloft, Prozac, Sarafem, Celexa, Lexapro, Paxil, Pexeva, Brisdelle and Luvox. Global sales for anti-depression medication is estimated to be around $6 billion down from $15 billion back in 2003 according to some official sources only because there are cheaper generic versions out there.

I wanted to give you actual sales numbers for mood medication sales in USA and Canada but I would have to spend $2400 USD on some bullshit paper from MARKET INSIGHT REPORTS written by some egghead. Why spend that money on a report when I could buy a 3 month supply of weed for myself?

Toxic effects of Anti-Depression drugs

Anti-depression drugs cause a myriad of unpleasant side effects. I’ve outlined the top 10 in my opinion below.

  1. Insomnia
  2. Fatigue and lethargy
  3. Vision problems
  4. Dry mouth
  5. Weight gain
  6. Liver toxicity
  7. Diarrhea
  8. Constipation
  9. Personality changes
  10. Loss of sex drive (the biggest setback in my humble opinion)

So check out this plausible scenario I’m living in San Diego, California, Portland, OR or Vermont. I’m in the 20-35 age demographic, my career is not progressing as it should and my relationship with my girlfriend or boyfriend is on rocky ground. Affirmations and positive thinking have failed me so I go to the doctor who gives me a prescription for some new Pfizer drug. I start taking the medication and start suffering from some of the above side effects listed above. I go back to my doctor who gives me another prescription for another antidepressant drug with its own side effects. So here I am 4 weeks later fat and impotent or if I’m a woman I can’t get a normal orgasm, not that it was easier before the medication since so the average guy lasts less than 4 mins in the bedroom.

If you have any deductive reasoning ability and you do your research you will come to the conclusion that cannabis has none of the drawbacks of pharmaceutical drugs when it comes to treating depression.

Best Strains for Depression

My dear Mega Bud Dispensary’s readers I know it’s a tough world out there and we all get down sometimes. This world is inundated with negativity and dysfunction, this is one of the reasons why I don’t watch the news. Have you ever noticed that during commercial breaks for news programs there is always an ad for some pharmaceutical drug for depression?

You want to aim for a cannabidiol (CBD) to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) ratio of 2:1 for optimal treatment of your depression.  A high THC rate responsible for that euphoric high is not necessary when self medicating. Take mild doses and observe how you feel after a few hours. Get all the benefits without the side effects of pharmaceutical or generic drugs on the market.

If your a cannabis rookie and new to the 420 lifestyle I recommend the sativa strain specifically Godfather OG AAAA+ leave a review on our website after you try it.
